Overview

Fish stocks in the Mediterranean Sea have dropped to alarming levels, but in one of its most overexploited areas, the state of fish populations is improving. By protecting just 1% of the Adriatic Sea, fish stocks and vulnerable species have begun to recover. This is the inspiring story of the protection of the Jabuka/Pomo Pit, narrated through the voices of fishermen, scientists, NGOs and decision-makers.

The hidden sea

The Hidden Sea combines cinema, theater and documentary. Freely inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s fable, The Little Prince, this film tells the story of a young immigrant’s journey through the faces and wounds of Southern Italy. An attempt to reclaim his own history and perhaps his own future. But he is not alone on this journey. The narrator’s words are in fact confused with those of the many characters encountered and above all with the voice of the places crossed. The Hidden Sea is a reflection on the saving power of art.

Dracula and the Turn of the Tide

The association of Whitby with Bram Stoker’s Dracula is fairly well-known; the writer Leo Walmsley less so. Michael Clegg takes us on a journey around the places that inspired both authors, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, just five miles apart on the Yorkshire coast. With the help of excerpts from two films based on their novels, ‘Turn of the Tide’ (1935), and ‘Scars of Dracula’ (1970), Clegg provides a guide to their work and the very different tales they have to tell.
