Legends of Russia
This film is dedicated to the Russian legends that found their reflection in the Russian tradition of the artist and author Kseniya Simonova. The piece is a drawn animation created with a new experimental technique invented by Simonova that she called “plastic animation”, which consists of bringing the plasticine (or sand) to a fluid/plastic state through physical conditions, and using it practically as if it were a liquid pictorial medium.

During the festival's opening ceremony in Düsseldorf, Simonova created a moving live sand animation titled "Share Your Heart," which she dedicated to the orphaned children of Simferopol. The performance, which combined Newton's voice with the fluid sand illustrations, was a resounding success.

This sand animation film is devoted to the holy memory of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his Family. On 17 (4, Old Style) July the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of the martyrs of Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra, their children - Prince Alexei, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia, martyred in Yekaterinburg in the basement of the Ipatiev house on the night 16 to 17 July 1918. This tragedy is the tragedy of the century, their holy blood is on many generations of Russians. All we can do - say "We are sorry" and do everything to make their memory alive.
