This 14 minute short documentary features a panel hosted by the Disabled Student Union at University of California Berkeley called "Are Cripples Screwed." In addition to the panel, viewers are introduced to a community of disabled individuals who address misconceptions and stereotypes about sex and disability while sharing stories about their intimate relationships. Yet society often ignores this—aged bodies are deemed unattractive, and sexual desire beyond tenderness is stigmatized, sometimes leading to mistreatment in care homes where couples are separated. The documentary Vieillir et jouir sans entraves confronts this taboo. Featuring celebrities and real-life couples—including Francine and Marc (60 years together) and gay couple Jean-Marc and Alain (34 years together)—it explores aging bodies, love, sexuality, and the challenges of libido and illness. The film highlights initiatives supporting sexual expression for older adults, including LGBT-friendly housing and sex-positive care, urging society to rethink its view of aging intimacy.

When filmmaker Yoshifumi Tsubota learns about his slightly autistic uncle who lives alone, he decides to visit him. Drawn to his uncle’s unique personality, he begins to roll his camera as he visits him over the years. Tsubota himself had been diagnosed with a developmental disability and so understanding his uncle is also an act of understanding himself. Through intimate and personal footage, this charming film is gem of a documentary that also highlights contemporary social issues surrounding aging and social care for the disabled.
